Add pass context to your school's vaping response

Vero records teacher-created bathroom passes and selected destinations, with staff-defined separation warnings and searchable records for follow-up. It does not detect vaping or prove who entered a facility.

Three sources of operational context

Use pass records and staff-defined warnings alongside supervision, student accounts and your school's established wellbeing and behaviour processes.

Visibility

Each teacher-created bathroom pass records the student, selected destination and associated times. It is a pass record, not proof that the student entered the facility.

Separation

If a member of a staff-defined separation group already has an open pass record, Vero warns the next teacher. The teacher can wait or override with a recorded reason.

Contextual review

Reporting organises pass frequency, duration and selected destinations. A pattern can prompt staff to check context; it is not a diagnosis or finding of misconduct.

Review open pass records to bathroom destinations

Vero's shared register shows open pass records, including the student, expected destination and elapsed time. It does not verify the student's physical location. School-defined review rules can identify records that remain open beyond a chosen threshold.

  • School-defined review rules for extended open-pass time
  • Filter completed records by selected bathroom destination

Warn teachers about defined open-pass conflicts

Smart Separation checks staff-defined named groups when a pass is created. If another member has an open pass record, the teacher can wait or override with a recorded reason. Learn more about Smart Separation →

Different tools provide different signals

Evaluate pass records and detection hardware against your school's supervision, privacy, infrastructure and response requirements.

Detection hardware

  • May detect a device-specific aerosol or environmental signal
  • Capabilities and false-positive controls vary by product
  • Requires hardware installation and local response procedures
  • Does not by itself establish who was responsible
  • Should be assessed against school privacy and procurement requirements

Vero

  • Records teacher-created passes and selected destinations
  • Warns about open-pass conflicts in staff-defined groups
  • Runs in a browser on school-approved devices
  • Does not detect vaping or verify physical presence
  • Provides searchable pass context for authorised follow-up

Common questions

How can Vero support a school response to vaping?
Vero does not detect vape smoke or prove that vaping occurred. It records teacher-created passes, selected destinations and associated times, giving authorised staff a searchable chronology for follow-up. Smart Separation can also warn a teacher when a member of a staff-defined group already has an open pass record.
Do I still need vape detectors?
Vero and vape-detection hardware provide different information. Vero records passes and selected destinations; it does not detect aerosols, verify that a student entered a facility or prove who was responsible for an incident. Schools should evaluate each tool against their own supervision, privacy, infrastructure and response requirements.
Can Vero limit how often a student visits the bathroom?
Vero does not automatically limit bathroom access. It can report the frequency and duration of teacher-created passes to a selected bathroom destination. Staff should review any pattern in context and use professional judgement before deciding whether follow-up is appropriate.
What if students are vaping during break times?
Vero records the staff-created school workflows configured in the platform. It does not observe break-time activity. Supervision and incident response remain with the school’s established procedures.
Is this approach punitive?
Vero does not determine whether vaping or other misconduct occurred. Authorised staff can review recorded pass frequency, active duration and selected destinations as prompts for a supportive, contextual conversation within the school’s established wellbeing and behaviour processes.
