How it works →

Out of class in two clicks

A simple workflow staff can understand immediately. Select the student, choose a destination and the open record appears in the shared school register.

1

Select the student

Search for the student from your school's managed roll.

2

Choose a destination

Bathroom, sick bay, office, or any location your school configures.

Done — the pass record is open

The pass is timed, logged, and visible to staff until the student returns.

The two-tap pass workflow is designed to take under five seconds.

Teacher-created records, with clear limits

Vero records pass information entered by authorised staff without requiring student phones, GPS or cameras. An open pass shows an expected destination and recorded times; it does not verify where a student physically is.

Review open pass records in one shared register

Staff can review open pass records, selected destinations and elapsed time in one shared view. Open-pass information can also support the school's established drill and emergency procedures.

  • Open pass records available to authorised staff
  • Optional elapsed-time reminders configured by your school
  • Completed pass records available to authorised staff

Flag separation conflicts before a student leaves

Staff define the school's separation groups. If another group member already has an open pass record, Vero warns the teacher before the pass is issued. The teacher can wait or override the warning with a recorded reason.

  • Separation rules configured once by admin
  • Conflicts flagged before a pass is issued
  • Warnings and override reasons recorded for review

Fast front-line workflows alongside your SIS

Your SIS remains the source of truth. Vero gives staff purpose-built, two-tap workflows for out-of-class passes, late arrivals, uniform checks and positive recognition.

Uniform checks in two taps — not twelve clicks

Vero provides a two-tap uniform-entry workflow alongside your SIS. Authorised staff can review the shared timeline in context, including reasonable adjustments and family circumstances.

  • Select the student, pick the category — done
  • Each entry shows when it was logged and by whom
  • Clear context for fair, informed conversations

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a digital hall pass?
A digital hall pass (also called an out-of-class pass in Australian schools) replaces paper sign-out sheets with a shared digital record. When a student needs to leave class, the teacher creates a pass in seconds. The system records the selected destination, how long the pass stays open and when the student returns, supporting the school's duty-of-care processes. Compare digital and paper workflows.
How does Vero work?
Vero is a staff-facing digital out-of-class pass system. Teachers create a pass in two clicks — select the student and choose an expected destination. The open record appears immediately in the school's shared open-pass register. It shows information entered by staff, not a student's verified physical location.
Is Vero compliant with Australian privacy laws?
Vero publishes its Privacy Policy so schools can assess the service against the privacy requirements that apply to them. The primary application database is hosted in Sydney, Australia; supporting providers, purposes and processing countries are disclosed in that policy. Vero does not sell school data or use it for advertising or to train AI models.
How long does it take to set up?
A defined pilot group can generally be live within one week, subject to data readiness, Wonde approval and any local school allowlisting. Vero Core uses manual student-data management; Vero Connected syncs approved student, class and timetable data through Wonde.
What does Vero cost?
Vero Core is $3 AUD per enrolled student per year and Connected is $4, excluding GST. Every current Vero module is included in both plans. Schools can begin with a $500 AUD ex-GST one-term pilot, capped at their quoted annual price if lower; if they continue to an annual subscription, the pilot fee is credited in full. See full pricing.
Do students need a device?
No. Vero is teacher-led: an authorised staff member creates the pass from a laptop, tablet or phone. Students do not need an account, personal device or GPS tracking.
Is there a mobile app?
Vero is a browser-based progressive web app optimised for mobile. Staff can bookmark it or add it to a home screen, with no app-store deployment. It works in modern browsers on school-approved devices.
Does Vero work for schools of all sizes?
Vero is primarily designed for Australian secondary and P–12 schools, including multi-campus structures and period-based timetables. Primary schools can also use a simpler teacher-led pass workflow; see our primary-school overview to assess the fit.
What about student privacy?
School and role permissions limit access to authorised staff, and hosted records are encrypted in transit and at rest. Vero collects data needed to provide the configured school service and publishes its provider, purpose and country disclosures in the Privacy Policy.
