Set the Rules Once. Get Notified When Patterns Emerge
Teachers can't watch every data point for every student, every day. They shouldn't have to. Define the thresholds that matter and let Vero watch for you — automatically notifying the right people when patterns emerge.
Visual Rule Builder, Zero Code
A school leader creates an alert rule using the visual rule builder. Choose the incident type, set the threshold, define who should be notified, and select the delivery method. From that point on, the system evaluates every new record and fires a notification when criteria are met.
- No code, no formulas, no cron jobs to maintain
- Rules run in the background and surface information when it matters
- Create, edit, pause, or delete rules at any time
Powerful Rules, Simple Setup
From tally-based thresholds to single-incident triggers, Alerts gives you the flexibility to monitor exactly what matters to your school.
Tally-based Rules
Count incidents over a rolling period and trigger when the total exceeds a threshold. Supports multiple thresholds, daily/weekly/monthly/term reset periods, and custom term dates.
Single-incident Rules
Fire immediately when a specific event occurs — such as an unusually long pass — without needing a running count. Perfect for urgent situations that shouldn't wait for a tally to build up.
Granular Filters
Scope rules by student, house, year group, destination, or reason. Create rules as broad as "any student, any destination" or as narrow as "Year 9 students visiting the bathroom during Period 4."
Multi-channel Delivery
Receive alerts as in-app notifications, email, or both. Both channels can be active simultaneously, so a year coordinator sees the alert in-app and gets an email as a backup.
Scheduled or Immediate
Immediate delivery for urgent, single-incident rules. Scheduled delivery batches notifications into a morning digest — leaders read it with their morning coffee instead of getting pinged all afternoon.
Multi-threshold Escalation
Set progressive triggers so alerts escalate through your pastoral team. Minor patterns reach the people closest to the student, while escalating patterns reach leadership automatically.
Escalation Example
| Threshold | Recipient | Channel |
|---|---|---|
| 3 bathroom passes/week | Class teacher | In-app |
| 5 bathroom passes/week | Year coordinator | In-app + email |
| 7 bathroom passes/week | Head of wellbeing | In-app + email |
The Right Person Gets the Right Alert
Set progressive triggers with different recipients at each level. Minor patterns are flagged to the people closest to the student, while escalating patterns reach leadership — without anyone needing to manually raise the concern.
- Multiple thresholds per rule with escalating recipients
- First notifications go to teachers, then coordinators, then leadership
- No concerns fall through the cracks
What Schools Actually Use It For
From monitoring bathroom patterns to celebrating positive milestones, Alerts works the way Australian schools need it to.
Bathroom Pass Monitoring
Schools set a weekly threshold — usually between 3 and 7 — and notify the relevant teacher or coordinator when a student exceeds it. This catches frequent flyers early and provides data for follow-up conversations.
Uniform Compliance Follow-up
If a student has 3 or more uniform infringements in a month, notify their form tutor. Repeated violations trigger a pastoral conversation rather than simply accumulating in a database.
Tardy Escalation
Combine rules like "more than 3 tardies in a week" with "a single tardy exceeding 20 minutes". Two rules that cover both patterns and outliers, notifying the right people automatically.
Wellbeing Monitoring
If a student visits Sick Bay more than 3 times in a week, notify the school counsellor. Frequent visits can indicate anxiety, avoidance, or other wellbeing concerns worth following up.
Positive Milestone Recognition
Alerts aren't only for problems. If a student reaches 50 value awards this term, notify their form tutor so they can acknowledge the achievement and keep the values system rewarding.
Full Control from the Dashboard
All active rules are visible in the Alerts dashboard. Manage, pause, or adjust rules at any time — useful during holidays or assessment periods when normal patterns don't apply.
- Status tracking — see which rules are active or paused
- Pending notifications — see how many alerts are queued for the next delivery
- Quick editing — adjust thresholds, recipients, and delivery methods
- Pause & resume — preserve configuration without triggering new notifications
